Our work falls into two broad areas:
clinical services and public education
Clinical services
agency contacts us upon the death of a donor. The designated tissues are recovered and then provided
to hospitals, physicians and researchers who need them in their life-saving and life-enhancing work.
The donor’s body is returned immediately to the funeral home with minimal delay whatsoever to the
funeral plans, including open-casket arrangements.
Public education
Given all the benefits, both to the donor's family and the recipients, why doesn’t everybody pledge
to donate tissue after they die? Mostly it’s because they have not been educated about the benefits.
Donor Services of Indiana is working to change that, with a host of public education programs
throughout Indiana. We support professionals who work with grieving families with training
programs. And we offer classroom lesson programs for school health and science classes.
