Think of tissue-pledging as
Life Assurance
For you and people just like you.
There’s a good chance that at some point in your life, you may need the help of a tissue or
eye-tissue transplant. More than a million tissue transplants each year help cancer patients,
heart patients, vision-impaired people, burn victims, people with arthritis, accident victims
and countless others.
People just like you.
When the time comes, will the tissue you need for a heart bypass procedure, a skin graft,
or a cornea replacement be available? Where will it come from?
It all comes from the same place – from the loving generosity of people just like you.
Pledging to be a tissue and eye donor when you die is a way of sharing life-saving and
life-enhancing resources to assure that there is enough tissue when needed. Collectively,
we all contribute so that when a need arises, resources are available. The decision is a
personal one that each of us makes, and there is no right or wrong answer. But the good
news for those who would like to donate is that there are no barriers to donating! Even if
you have had serious health issues, scientists and researchers can advance the frontiers
of health with your donation.
